Ibiza, Spain

Living my best life is Ibiza cake!

Ibiza is and always has been a mecca for dance music around the globe. Party and sun-worshipping people from all over the world flock to this Island to enjoy the vibrant nightlife and world-class beach clubs. Think Vegas on steroids—and my experience was no less different. While I could ramble on about the exuberant party life, I’ll be more personal about the great, good, and ugly experiences I had in Ibiza, the party capital of the world.

The Great:

Ibiza is really in the leading edge when it comes to creating over the top-parties, and the Ocean Beat Boat Party was no exception. The boat leaves the dock with music playing from the moment you set sail and has an all-inclusive array of drinks (wine, beer, Sangria) and food (muffins and fresh baguettes). If you feel the need to cool down, the boat is equipped with it’s own diving boat and water slide…so you can jump straight into the ocean. And they have photographers on board capturing all the action so you don’t have to worry about taking your camera/phone. There’s a lot of other crazy things that happen on the boat…but like they told us…Whatever happens on the boat, stays on the boat!!!

The Good:

Amnesia is one of the most iconic and oldest island clubbing institution in Ibiza. The building is divided into two rooms both with similar electronic dance music styles. Amnesia doesn’t kick off until around midnight but it runs till dawn so pace yourself guys! I had a blast here but note…the drinks are insanely expensive. By drinks, I mean the chaser…1 shot of Jaegar was 10 euros (reasonable), BUT the Coca Cola to go with it was 13 euros #logic

The Bad:

There wasn’t anything that was completely terrible but our second night in Ibiza, we were set to go to Hi Ibiza to see Martin Garrix perform and were kicked out 5 minutes into the club. By no means was it our fault, we asked security where the main dance floor was and were given incorrect directions to the VIP section. They told us we weren’t allowed to be in the VIP section and kicked us out—not understanding that we were given directions to there and it was all an accident. But at the end of the day, when one party kicks you out…you find another, the beauty of Ibiza.

Random Thoughts:

As much as I loved staying at the all-inclusive Grand Palladium Resort and Spa because of the unlimited drinks and food, I wouldn’t recommend it to people. The environment was a bit too family friendly and relaxed for me, you don’t get to experience the crazy day party scene and hype as much. But, I definitely took advantage of the unlimited drinks…the bartender knew we were foreign because we were taking shots at 11 am.

Another thing I didn’t get to experience this time around was the Ushuahia pool party. One of the ultimate party hotels because of their pool area that turns into an open air club with world’s best DJ’s behind the deck—Avicii, Diplo, Dillon Francis, Kygo etc. This is a MUST DO for next time, but you have to make sure you’re there during closing party season.

Overall:

Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or a complete newcomer, trust me when I say you’ll never have a boring moment in Ibiza. There you have it—enough thumping base lines, shots of tequila and general debauchery to give you the best nights of your life followed by the hangover that promises “I’m never drinking again”—yeah, yeah we never learn. I will make it my mission to stop at Ibiza for at least two days every time I travel to Europe because it’s that worth it.

Stay tuned for my Lisbon, Portugal post which involves less raging and more touristy things.
